An eye pad serves multiple purposes — physical protection from rubbing or accidental contact, reduction of light sensitivity during the initial recovery period, absorption of minor post-operative discharge, and maintenance of a clean environment around the surgical site.

Recommended Eye Pad Types

Shadow Eye Pad: Opaque, light-blocking layer providing complete darkness. Most commonly recommended for the first 24-48 hours post-surgery when photophobia is most pronounced. Prevents patients from inadvertently rubbing the eye.

Silicone Adhesive Eye Pad: Gentle silicone adhesive provides secure fixation without traumatizing delicate periocular skin. Easy removal minimizes discomfort — important for elderly patients with fragile skin.

Standard Adhesive Eye Pad: Cost-effective option with reliable adhesion. Suitable for overnight protection when the eye shield is removed.

Patient Instructions

1. Wear the eye pad continuously for the first 24 hours as directed by your surgeon
2. Use the provided eye shield at night for the first week
3. Replace the eye pad if it becomes wet or soiled
4. Wash hands thoroughly before touching the eye area
5. Avoid rubbing or pressing on the eye
6. Report any increasing pain, vision loss, or discharge immediately
